I’ve been grieving in a sense. The games, at one time a kind of shelter for me, probably helped in no small part to nurture my suspicion of power and the mythology on which it stands. But their odd flavor of science fiction which almost didn’t make it to market—that eerie, anachronistic walk in the wilderness between a crazy home and a crazy world which resonated with millions has, as a matter of course, been grabbed hold of and wielded like a super sledge against us by its writers for television. Stefan’s initial resistance to analyzing this attack inspired me to begin to lay out the following for you all a while ago. I’m late to the party, but as an old fan of the franchise I now just aim to add that perspective to the conversation; to offer more of a comparative look and a few thoughts.
