Sunday Morning Live 29 December 2024
In this episode, I examine the complexities of human behavior and moral standards as we near the end of 2024. We discuss the importance of internal standards in dealing with arrogant individuals and how societal norms shape ethical conduct. I highlight the impact of manipulative rhetoric on personal autonomy and the hypocrisy often found in moral judgments. Through personal anecdotes and reflections on parenting, I emphasize the significance of genuine connections and the conscious choices we make in navigating life's moral challenges.

In this episode, I explore mental health, personal agency, and societal norms, challenging conventional views on bipolar disorder and emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility. I discuss the philosophy of the mind, advocating for reason and empirical evidence in understanding mental well-being. The conversation shifts to cryptocurrency, highlighting Bitcoin as a pathway to financial freedom, and critiques the risks posed by centralized digital currencies.
I also address homeschooling, defending parental education against bureaucratic oversight, and critique modern ideologies that contradict human instincts. Drawing on philosophers like Camus and Sartre, I underscore the significance of personal integrity in philosophical discourse. This episode encourages listeners to critically assess societal constructs around mental health, education, and autonomy.

I've taken Stef's book recommendations seriously over the years, here's just a brief list of references:

by Danielle Crittenden (Purchased today, I'll review this later once it arrives)
Fear of Women
by Wolfgang Lederer
Lip Service: The Myth of Female Virtue in Love, Sex, and Friendship
by Kate Fillion
You Can Negotiate Anything: The Groundbreaking Original Guide to Negotiation
Herb Cohen
How to Raise Your Self-Esteem: The Proven Action-Oriented Approach to Greater Self-Respect and Self-Confidence

and of course
Fountainhead, Ayn Rand
Crime and Punishment, Dostoysevsky . I haven't gotten to reading these yet.
Stef hasn't mentioned it directly to my knowledge, but this is related to the conversation:
Human Action: A Treatise on Economics - Ludwig von Mises
@Danisa I know you had a question related to what stef meant by not changing your partner after marriage. I was listening to the first caller of podcast 3630 that hit on this topic really well at 1:05:00
This is an interesting read.
Vox's reasoning around the word "because" makes alot of sense to me, but what he said about the use of "why' had me feeling some irritation and tension when I read it.
Thoughts ?
