I just listened to UPB verses Evil. I’m confused. If UPB requires the use of the NAP- why is there a need for UPB? The non-aggression principle already proves that rape, theft, assault, and murder are wrong. What am I missing?
I’ve heard Stef explain this multiple times. You can’t want to rape and be raped at the same time (at all times and in all places). But why does that even matter? If the initiation of the use of force is immoral- then rape, theft, murder and assault are immoral.
If UPB does not use the NAP (or the golden rule) as a first principle- then I think the real work would be in explaining how Universal= moral or ethical. Stef spends a lot of time explaining how it is impossible for rape, theft, murder or assault to be universalized. That’s true. But why does universal=moral? Did Newton’s Universal Law of Gravitation make gravity moral? I don’t understand.
