Any recs for funding for a gene therapy company targeting rare pediatric diseases?
I started my own company (I am the CEO) and we are about to start pitching for funding. Since it is a really rare disease market (it's called PMM2-CDG) funding will likely initially come from angel investors and advocacy groups. I'm working with the University of Utah to run the experiments and we have two mouse models. The disease often kills the kid by the age of 6 and if it's not fatal, they often have permanent brain damage. Our gene therapy reverses the problem by giving a copy of the defective gene and was successful in all major tissues including the brain, giving these kids a chance at life (when right now, they merely get symptomatic care and the disease becomes progressively worse over their life).
