According to this lecture at the 15:50 mark, Mao hated his father who was a farmer. Under the leadership of Mao (the son of a farmer), China went on to experience a great famine 1959-1963 where 40 million people died. Again, a son of a FARMER, hates his FATHER, causing a FAMINE. Is there a connection here or am I overthinking things? FYI: Mao's father was described as a stern disciplinarian who would beat his children for disobedience and perceived lack of filial piety.
Update: The trend is confirmed at 1:32:20 "Stalin is abused as a child, and then he's incredibly abusive...Hilter is abused as a child..." Good to see this recognised by a mainstream academic.
